Eighteen months after my diagnosis and I’m still finding fun ways my body doesn’t work. This weekend I realised that “sitting down” is problematic. More specifically, sitting down for a long time.
Spent a huge chunk of the weekend in the car – driving from Scotland to Coventry, scooting around the midlands and then home via Derby. After a while on the journey both ways I started getting a sharp ache under my ribs, worse when I breathed in. I had the same thing a couple of months ago when we were on the train to London and assumed it was just stiffness from being on a crap plastic seat, especially since it went away when I moved around a little bit.
I have no idea what the science behind this little fibro feature is, but I could do without it!
Apparently ignoring it is the wrong approach because I woke up this morning in AGONY. Seriously, every muscle between my hips and my ribs is screaming at me. If I sit down at all for more than fifteen minutes or so my back goes completely stiff and I end up limping gingerly around the house like I’ve got solid wooden sticks for legs.
